I usually don’t set goals for the new year, I just kind of decide to something when I want to, but I never really maintain the momentum because life gets so busy, or I don’t actually make the time to do it.
I always say I wish I had more time to do this, or there is too much to get done to fit something else in. But, the point is to make the time to do the things that will make us feel better and bring us the most joy.
But, the past year put things in perspective for me, so my goals reflect self care and doing the things that I love.
1. Read more
I love to read and often forget to put my phone down before bed. So my goal is to read for at least 30 minutes to an hour before bed every night.
2. Blog and create more
I really enjoy blogging and creating content, so I want to do more, even though I’m exhausted during or after a long 40 hour work week.
3. Exercise regularly
I wasn’t exactly the first person to run to the gym before lockdown, but for the few times that I did attend a class, I felt better afterwards and slept better too.
I’m less active now since I’m working from home, I’m constantly seated, and I hate the cold… So you won’t catch me out for a walk during the winter.
I really enjoyed Pilates classes so my goal is to do at least 3 Pilates workouts a week. I’ve followed a few instructors on Instagram and YouTube, and their videos are easy to follow. My best friend also sent me some workouts she’ll be following by Sarah Van Den Berg, and I would like to incorporate one or two of those as well.
4. Maintain a healthy diet
I have a sweet tooth and cookies are my go to snack, and if we have chocolate in the house then I’m munching on that too. But I find myself feeling sluggish throughout the day and lacking energy, so my goal is to incorporate more fruit and veggies into my diet, and reduce the amount of sweets I eat.
5. Maintain a positive mindset
This one is the most important goal. I’m usually a positive person but there is so much negativity in the world at the moment and it’s kind of overwhelming at times. So I will unplug when I need to and look on the bright side, because things can always be worse.
There you have my 2021 goals. I don’t think they should be too hard to keep up with, well maybe the exercise if I’m being honest, but persistence is key. Wish me luck!
