Since my birthday plans were cancelled with the lockdown, I couldn’t spend the day with my boyfriend as planned and shop for the leather jacket I was eyeing at Zara. He offered to order it for me, but I like to try jackets on in store rather than order them online. Also, I wouldn’t have anywhere to wear it with the lockdown and warm weather was just around the corner.
So, I went back to the drawing board and thought of a few pieces I had been eyeing from Missoma London and finally decided on a pair of gorgeous hoop earrings from the Lucy Williams x Missoma 1987 collection.
These hoops are the Gold Chunky Waffle Hoops and they are made of brass and plaited in 18ct gold. They are actually quite heavy, not too heavy, but I’ll definitely know if one should fall off my ear lobe. They are packaged in a navy blue box lined with a velvet interior and come in the cutest little pouch. A cleaning cloth is also provided. Gotta keep them shiny.
I’ve been gravitating towards gold jewellery these past few years (I’ve been a solid silver girl since my early teens) but I find that gold pieces do add a more luxurious quality to an outfit. I’ve always loved gold hoops though, my grandmother wore gold hoop earrings throughout my childhood (when she still wore jewellery besides her wedding band), which I have borrowed from time to time. But now I have my own pair.
I’m really happy with my choice, it was between these and the Gold Baya Hoops which are a little more delicate in comparison, but I really like this chunky vintage look. So I was really happy when my boyfriend gifted me these beauties that I so carefully chose. Shipping is really quick by the way.
The slogan for the 1987 collection is Retro Reimagined, and includes gold thick chains, crosses, chunky hoop earrings and rings. The collections also includes a few silver pieces.
The other collections are equally as beautiful and I have my eye on the Lucy Williams Gold Beaded Coin Necklace from the Roman Collection, which would be beautifully layered with a choker. Maybe I will treat myself to the necklace for my birthday next year.
